Fall, Fall, Fall

I'm officially calling it fall here in the Lone Star state even if it is still near 100 degrees. I'm steadfastly ignoring the thermometer and starting to plan for cooler temps. Whether they actually arrive is entirely beside the point.

We started today with what I consider to be a fall movie favorite which is You've Got Mail. It does kind of span the seasons but it starts with the famous "bouquets of sharpened pencils" which officially puts it in the fall camp for me. Next up would be the first Harry Potter and Practical Magic but I tend to wait until closer to October and Halloween decorating.

I'm dreaming of the mercury glass pumpkins at Pottery Barn but at $40 a string it's tough. Still on the debating list. They really would look fantastic on the mantle with the silver mercury glass and gold picture frames. Hmmm, maybe if I save my lunch money.

What are you dreaming of for fall?

Thankful Challenge

I think I'm going to try and take on the "Thankful Challenge" from Carrots 'N' Cake. I need something to kick my butt back to the blogosphere and not focus on a baby focus for every update (although she really is at the top of the grateful list). So today's thankful item is for the "cold front" heading to Texas.

I love myself some cold weather with windows open, reading on the patio, sweaters... the list is endless.

Fall in Texas

It's almost fall here I can feel it! Well, mostly I'm trying to will it into fall so I'm taking the 70 degree high as a sign to wear boots and sweaters. This week I was supposed to go to LA for a class but work has been crazy since my return and I can't really justify heading out for another 3 days but I'm already thinking of my goodies for Silver Bella! I can't wait for all the girlie fun.
Instead, we're going to do some housekeeping this weekend - I like to fall clean instead of spring clean - and hit the farmer's market. We've been doing pretty well about eating at home since getting back from the trip. All the restaurants were super tasty but I think we have a little bit of restaurant burnout. If it really is fall temps, we're opening the windows and putting on the vegetable soup!
p.s. In case you were wondering about the odd photo, my Pegasus pic is being used on this guide. Not a big deal but I thought it was kind of fun.

Happy Friday!

This post really turned my Friday around. Yay Will Allen! I hope this inspires you to venture out during this gorgeous fall season to a farmer's market and make a pot of stew, chili, vegetarian lasagna... you get the idea. Also, buy a lovely bunch of flowers for home. I promise your day will brighten immediately when you catch a glimpse of the bright blooms.

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!
